Meet our instructors

Brent Lacy
Chief Instructor

Mr. Lacy began his Tang Soo Do training in 1997 under Master Wilson Smith and has been teaching for more than 10 years.   Over the years, he has instructed hundreds of children, teens, adults, and seniors at three martial art schools.  He is a certified 4th degree Black Belt instructor as well as a certified international referee with the World Tang Soo Do Association.  Mr. Lacy's areas of expertise include open hand self-defense, bo staff, knife, and nunchucks.  Although Tang Soo Do is his main focus, Mr. Lacy also has experience in Aikido, Hapkido, BJJ and Tai Chi.  He also has a Master's degree in Education and is an aspiring author.

Charlie Haywood
Class Instructor

Patricia Paquette
Class Instructor

Mr. Haywood began his Tang Soo Do training in 2010.  He earned his first degree black belt in 2015 and his second degree in 2017. Mr. Haywood also has previous training in Moo Duk Kwan/Soo Bahk Do.  He enjoys demonstrating and explaining various techniques in class and strives to continue the tradition of Tang Soo Do.  In addition, Mr. Haywood is an avid music fan and talented guitar player.

​Patricia Paquette is an E Dan (2nd degree) Black Belt candidate and instructor in training at Commonwealth Tang Soo Do and is a certified referee with the World Tang Soo Do Association. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and a Master’s degree in Work Environment/Ergonomics. She has been a certified fitness instructor and personal trainer. She is also a WomanSpeak certified public speaker. Her passion is teaching kids and other vulnerable people how to stay safe from abuse and violence.
